How a Radiant Heat Barrier Works

When the sun heats a roof, it's the sun's radiant heat energy that makes the roof hot. Much of the heat is transferred to the attic by conduction. It travels, through the roofing materials and winds up in the the attic where it increase the temperature in an unprotected attic by as much as 50 degrees.  A reflective heat shield reduces this heat transfer and makes your attic much, much cooler.
